Temperature ranges for most commercial refrigeration equipment is listed below.

Reach-In Coolers

Reach-In Coolers are a must have for restaurants, cafeterias, bars, retail stores and fast food restaurants, to name a few. Reach-in coolers come in many different styles and configurations such as:

  • Single Door Reach-In Coolers
  • Half Door Reach-In Coolers
  • Solid Door Reach-In Coolers
  • Glass Door Reach-In Cooler
  • Pass Through Reach-In Cooler
  • Most commercial reach-in coolers are “Self-Contained”, meaning that there is a Condensing Unit located above or below the cooler doors which contain the compressor and condenser, increasing portability.

    Reach-In Freezers

Reach-in freezers follow similar application and variation as reach-in coolers with the exception that reach-in freezers are designed to maintain much colder temperatures.

    Refrigerated Display Cases

Refrigerated display cases are typically used to showcase products such as bakery, pastries, deli meats or beverages to customers. Similar to Display Cases, they are usually “Self-Contained”, easily movable and serviced accordingly.

    Refrigerated Merchandising Cases

Refrigerated merchandising cases are designed for multiple purposes in single or double door models as well as “open-air” access. An open-air display case promotes ease of access to customers for impulse purchase. This technology creates what is called an “air curtain” designed to maintain a consistent cool temperature without doors or covering. The cold air is circulated over and in front, refrigerating the items, creating a barrier between the refrigerated case and the ambient temperature of the air outside of barrier. These refrigerated cases require regular maintenance to hold required temperature and ensure longer life to minimize the cost of future repair.

Central Ohio Appliance offers a maintenance program for refrigerated merchandising cases on all brands including Turbo Air Display Cases and Hussmann Display Cases to maintain proper operation and reduce potential downtime and future expense.

    Refrigerated Prep Tables

Refrigerated prep tables are a common staple in restaurants and food service. Common applications include prep for sandwiches, salads, burritos, and pizza toppings. Prep tables have refrigerated “wells” that allow for the easy access of the ingredients, while maintaining food at a safe temperature.

    Walk-In Coolers

Refrigerated walk-in coolers are larger units for food and beverage storage. Walk-in coolers come in pre-fab configurations but most often are custom built for the location and purpose. With custom builds used by restaurants, hotels, fast food, cafeterias and retail stores, walk-in coolers often require custom understanding.

A walk-in cooler is stationary with its refrigeration system, or “Condensing Unit”, located outside of the cooler walls. The “Condensing Unit” which contains the compressor, can be located next to, on top of, or even farther away from the walk-in unit, in multiple configurations.

    Walk-In Freezers:

Like walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers are most often customized for location and purpose but designed to maintain freezing temperatures between 0 degrees to -10 degrees Fahrenheit as designated by the Food and Drug Administration.

Some walk-In freezers are more substantial. They can range in size from 50 square feet to the size of an entire warehouse. Larger food storage freezing units are often built for regional food distribution warehouses and grocery chains.
